Activity 1: Introductions

Welcome to Medschlr 500. During these small-group sessions, you will perform several activities to help you on your scholarship and inquiry journey. These activities will vary from session to session, but the one constant that will remain will be your facilitator and your group members. This “pod” will be the group you will interact with longitudinally throughout the next few years. You will be working with, helping, learning from, and assessing each other.

You’ll need to understand your group dynamics. One of the fundamental parts of this understanding is having a good idea of who everyone is at a personal, professional, and scholarly level. Take a few minutes each and introduce yourself to everyone in your small group. Some possible things to bring up when introducing yourself:

Activity 2: Expectations

See the course outline for the subsequent two terms. There will be large- and small-group sessions. A few of the weeks may be small groups only.

By the end of Medschlr 500, the goal is to better prepare you for being able to read and digest the literature. In addition, we will give you the tools you will need to have the ability to begin your scholarship and inquiry journey in Medschlr 520 and 540.

In the interest of transparency, please look at the course outline on E.Flo MD. Please review the assignments and assessment modalities that will be used throughout this course. By the end of the academic year, you will submit a proposal for your independent project that you will begin in Medschlr 520.

To see the outline of course weeks and assignments/assessments, see the syllabus, which is updated each year, on E.Flo MD. You will also have multiple-choice questions on mastery exams related to this course.
